ROOFTOP FARMING ACTIVITY 2021 DETAILS

The organization will hold theory lessons for students who can learn basic theories of growing organic vegetables and the elements of running a rooftop farm.

Theory Lessons

Farming Section

The rooftop farmers will teach students how to grow vegetables in different rooftop farms and let them try to grow vegetables by themselves.

After two weeks, students can show and teach the elderly how to grow plants. They can grow with the students if they want to. (Collaborating with LingnanU Elder Academy Programme)

Students are requested to prepare a short sharing to conclude what have they learned in the previous 8 lessons.

Three invited speakers will share their working experience related to organic products. Students can feel free to ask questions.

Evaluation

In the end, students need to complete a questionnaire which is about their expectations and impression of this activity.

Addition

We would like to invite Lingnan Student Service Center Career Advising Service to take part in our project. SSC can help students who have performed well in the activity to build up their network. After the activity, SSC can

give students a reference letter and send them to different organizations if they want to.

When students complete the activity, they can fulfill

part of the graduation requirement.

8 lessons plus sharing sections, 55 hours in total

12:00 - 12:59 p.m. lunch time
1:00 - 4:00 p.m. farming with farmer

The Sixth to Eighth lesson

10:00 - 11:59 a.m. theory lessons
12:00 - 12:59 p.m. lunch time
1:00 - 4:00 p.m. farming with the elderly
